Privacy policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Short version: SideSnip doesn’t collect, send, sell or share any of your data. Everything you save stays in your browser, on your own device.
What SideSnip stores
SideSnip saves the following in your browser’s extension storage, on your device only:
- the snippets you create: titles, text, and any files or images you add;
- your groups;
- your settings: panel position, theme and the selected group;
- the list of websites where you turned SideSnip on or off.
SideSnip has no servers and no accounts, and contains no analytics, tracking or advertising. None of this information leaves your device.
What SideSnip reads, and when
- Web pages. On sites where you turn SideSnip on, it shows its panel and remembers which form field you last clicked, so ↵ can type into it. When you use 📎 Attach, it looks for the page’s upload fields. It doesn’t record the pages you visit or what’s on them.
- Your clipboard. SideSnip reads your clipboard only when you click “Add copied text”, and only after you’ve allowed clipboard access. The text is put into the new-snippet form, and it’s saved only if you click Save.
- Files you add. Files are stored inside the extension so you can attach them to forms later. They’re only ever put into a website when you choose to attach or drop them there.
Sharing
SideSnip doesn’t share any data with anyone. There are no third parties involved.
Backups
When you click Export, SideSnip creates a backup file with your snippets, files and groups, and your browser saves it where you choose. That file is yours to keep safe; SideSnip never uploads it anywhere.
Deleting your data
- Delete individual snippets or groups in the panel at any time.
- Removing the extension from your browser deletes everything it stored.
Permissions
